Capital Gains Tax (CGT) is chargeable on gains arising on the disposal of assets, for example property. For disposals made from 6 December 2012 the CGT rate is 33%. The first €1,270 of an individual’s annual chargeable gains is exempt.

There are various CGT exemptions for the sale of your principal private residence, for the transfer of a site to a child, or for those who want to retire or pass the business to the next generation. Planning for retirement is extremely important especially from a tax point of view. We work with our clients to ensure their personal needs are the forefront of the planning structure whilst trying to make the transaction as tax efficient as possible.
